Role and Responsibilities:
As a Part-time Mail Processor, you will play a key role in the mail distribution process, ensuring timely and accurate handling of incoming and outgoing mail. You will work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment to support USPS's daily operations.
- Sort and organize mail by type, destination, and processing method
- Operate automated mail processing machinery and manual sorting equipment
- Scan barcodes and track mail flow to ensure accurate routing
- Load and unload mail containers and transport mail within processing centers
- Verify and inspect mail for accuracy and damage
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency
- Follow operational procedures and USPS regulations regarding mail handling
Required Skills and Experience:
- Ability to lift packages and mail sacks up to 70 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sorting tasks
- Comfortable working in a physically active and fast-paced environment
- Availability to work flexible part-time hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a mailroom, warehouse, or logistics environment
- Familiarity with USPS sorting systems or similar mail processing equipment
