Role and Responsibilities:
As a Sorting Room Clerk, you will be responsible for handling the daily operations of mail sorting and organization to ensure accurate and on-time distribution. You will work closely with logistics and operations teams to maintain USPS delivery standards.
- Sort and organize incoming and outgoing mail and packages based on delivery routes and classifications
- Operate mail sorting equipment and verify labels for accuracy
- Ensure all parcels are properly tagged, stacked, and routed
- Identify and report damaged or misrouted items promptly
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness and order in the sorting area
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily volume and time goals
- Follow safety and handling procedures in compliance with USPS policies
Required Skills and Experience:
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic organizational and time management skills
- Ability to stand, lift, and move packages for extended periods
- Comfortable using scanning and labeling tools or equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in mailroom or warehouse operations
- Familiarity with USPS sorting systems and processes
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends
