The Nothing Bundt Cakes (NbC) Assistant Bakery Manager works alongside the Bakery Manager and team members to create the highest-quality cakes, a warm, welcoming environment, and superior guest experience. The Assistant Bakery Manager shares in team leadership and collaborates with the Bakery Manager in driving sales and profitability, executing day-to-day responsibilities and ensuring that all aspects of the bakery operation comply with NbC standards. This role serves as an important carrier of the NbC culture to reinforce core values and bring our brand to life for our team members and guests.

Accountabilities/Duties:

  • Prioritizes enhancing the guest experience, sets a standard for exceptional guest engagement, and encourages a positive work culture.
  • Partakes in supporting the Bakery Manager in overseeing diverse elements of customer satisfaction, cake crafting, branding and product showcasing, workplace environment, and inventory management.
  • Aids the Bakery Manager in the recruitment, selection, and training of team members, directing daily operations, and providing constructive feedback and coaching for improvement.
  • Ensures the continuous compliance with NbC product, service, bakery atmosphere, and visual merchandising guidelines, and oversees the adherence to food safety standards and NbC procedures in bakery activities.
  • Helps with operational and administrative tasks as directed by the Bakery Manager, which could include planning cake production, setting productivity goals, arranging team schedules, purchasing supplies, compiling sales and labor reports, maintaining basic accounting records, managing expenses, and administering payroll.
  • Acts as a partner in coordinating the completion of personalized order requests using web platforms and email correspondence for individual visitors, business accounts, and comprehensive order and distribution arrangements.
  • Collaborates in managing the opening and closing procedures of the bakery, which includes responsibilities like balancing the cash drawer and depositing funds into the bank.
  • Plays a part in executing marketing plans within the community by organizing and partaking in events that contribute to brand development.
  • Keeps informed about all bakery responsibilities and is prepared to perform different tasks as needed by the business.

Meeting the education, certification, and work experience criteria is a prerequisite:

  • Possessing a high school diploma or GED is essential, and candidates with post-secondary education will be given extra consideration.
  • 1-3 years of guest-facing experience in a retail, restaurant or food service environment, preferably in a lead role with progressive managerial responsibilities.
  • Showcased success in crafting a superior guest experience and mentoring others to follow suit, training new team members, overseeing the work of others, and reaching productivity milestones.
  • Competency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiently, along with an ability to swiftly adapt to new technological tools.

Work Availability:

Being able to work diverse shifts, such as early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, is essential to respond to the fluctuating requirements of the business.

  • Hours of Work: The Manager position is a full-time position and operates within the normal business hours of Nothing Bundt Cakes and might also requires work outside of such normal business hours, as the job duties demand. The salaried position requires a minimum of 42 hours worked per week during non-holiday weeks and all months excluding November and December. Any week leading up to and including holidays require a minimum of 55 hours per week in-bakery at any location in need of additional support. Work on Saturdays is required when necessary, primarily during holiday weeks.
